Buying property in Bulgaria
Be very careful when buying property in Bulgaria. The country has come a long way since it moved away from communism and is now becoming a place for europeans to visit and buy property. The downside is that the real estate sharks are now here in full force. They are ripping local bulgarians off for tons of money and in the same process ripping the buyers off as well. Here is a prime example:-
A old Bulgarian woman decided to sell her house in my village, she wanted 10,000 leva (approx £3,500) the agent put the property up on their website and advertised it for £25,000 pounds. A English family then proceeded to buy this property, so the local got ripped off as did the english couple. The agent on the other hand is laughing all the way to the bank.
I don't mind an agent adding on a fair amount of money but to me making 400% profit plus, is taking it too far.
There is also very little after sales commitment, and you really do need all the help you can get when you buy a property here.
