2012 Anything to it?

Not sure if anybody has heard of 2012 or not, but there seems to be a lot of talk on the subject. Unlike the millennium doom merchants there does actually seem to be some reason behind the thinking of this.
Lots of different theories and i will go over the few that seem to gain most weight.
Theory #1 Planet alignment/solar max/transit of Venus/polar reversal
Now it may seem a bit complicated from that list there but i will break it down a bit for you. Now on December 21st 2012 the planets are supposed to be aligning, we have the sun in the centre and all the other planets are said to be lining up with it, that in itself is not a big deal it has happened many times before, however the sun will also be in the centre of our galaxy at the same time. Also a solar max maybe taking place around the same time. The sun goes through cycles every 11 years or so where its poles reverse, the solar max is the end of that current cycle. You can read up more on solar max at www.space.com and finally this coincides with the transit of Venus where we can sen the planet Venus travel in front of the sun. Now the theory is that this will cause a massive upheaval on the planet earth at that time. I have read a lot of pros and con's with this theory and am still sitting on the fence.

Theory#2 Ancient Mayan Calendar
The second theory is that the ancient Mayan calender ends on 21st of December 2012, no reason it stops it just does. The Mayan calendar is considered to be the most accurate calendar in existence, even more accurate than our current calendar where we have to stick in an extra day every 4 years to keep it on track. Some people believe the Mayans are descended from the ancient Atlantis empire, however this is just speculation. There is a lot more information on the calendar and the reasoning behind this theory, but its not my strongest interest in this matter so will not go on further.

Theory #3 Return of Nibiru/Planet X
The main theory here is that there is another planet that orbits our Sun on a elliptical orbit that takes approximately 26000 years to make a full cycle of the Sun. Theorist speculate that this could be a brown dwarf, and maybe the planet that is causing the strange pull on the outer planets of our solar system. This planet is due to pass by in the year 2012 which again would cause massive upheaval on the planet earth, tsunamis, tidal waves, earthquakes, mas volcanic eruptions etc.

Do i believe something will happen, i am not sure but there are a lot of ancient cultures who pointed out something was due to happen around this time, also a lot of prophets foretold of fiery death from the skies, which could indicate planet x or a comet. I will remain sceptical until proof is shown though.

Do your own research and let me know what you think.
